The system of evaluation report for Chinese design patents was introduced by the third revision of the Patent Law of China which became in effect since October 1, 2009. Evaluation report plays a more and more important role in enforcing a Chinese design patent, such as in litigation, customs recordation, etc. Up to August 15, 2015, more than 10,000 requests for evaluation report for Chinese design patents were received by the SIPO.
